Hodor’s Rave Of Thrones

If you are Game of Thrones enthusiast, you will most likely be found in a one of Australia’s major city clubs at some time in the next few months dancing in a mob and chanting Hodor, Hodor, Hodor!  This is no normal gathering or convention, more what could only be described as the love child of deep house music and the Seven Kingdoms.

Australia is to see the first of Kristian Nairn’s Game of Thrones themed raves, suitably named Rave of Thrones.  There will be ‘a range of surprise guests and garnishings’ and obviously fancy dress is required.  Nairn promises us that he will ‘keep his mind very much switched on’, which is quite the opposite skill on which he relies to portray his TV character Hodor.

Who would have guessed this well-known actor is also a reputable DJ of 11 years in Belfast’s house music scene.  ‘For one night only in every capital across this land venues will be transformed into the finest halls of Westeros’ declares the press release, and we will be invited to experience this fusion of television’s popular culture and deep house music at its best.  Hodor.

Yacht Club DJ’s Australian Tour Dates + More!

Yacht Club DJs are once again headed cross country for a new national tour. The tireless party DJs are embarking on the aptly titled Mayhem Tour, which will see the duo of Guy Chappell and Gaz Harrison showing love to the often neglected states of SA, WA and Tas, along with the usual stops.

Last year Yacht Club DJs unleashed their most comprehensive mixtape to date: They Mostly Come at Night… Mostly. The mixtape featured somewhere around 500-600 samples from various artists spanning a wide variety of genres.

The boys from Ballarat have long had a reputation for putting on a feverish live show that incorporates grunge, electro, 60s R&B, pop anthems, theme songs and more, to make sure the party never stops. Do yourself a favour and get along to Yacht Club DJs. Check out below for the Australian Tour Dates and which is closest to you!! Grab some tickets by clicking this link and choose your area!

NYE in Sydney’s Harbour!

From year to year the Sydney Harbour New Years Eve show gets bigger and better! Check out last years awesome party with the video below. Now if you will be heading down to the Harbour this year, check out the link right here to grab a good vantage point to watch the fireworks and the rest of the show!

Watching The Fireworks

Watch Sydney light up for the party of the year! Here’s how to plan your perfect night for the 9PM Family Fireworks, Midnight Fireworks and Harbour of Light Parade™. The Sydney New Year’s Eve Vantage Points map will guide you to the best view near you and let you know what restrictions will be in place on the night. Learn about the history of this iconic event and some of the new and exciting changes this year. To help you plan ahead:

Public transport and walking are the only ways to travel on New Year’s Eve, so leave your car at home. Refer to the Public Transport page for details about getting around.

NO BYO (bring your own) ALCOHOL restrictions apply to many vantage point sites. There are Alcohol Free Zones in place in a number of areas across the city on New Year’s Eve.

Look out for your mates. Plan a meeting place in case you get separated on the night as mobile phone networks can be congested.

For families with children, discreetly write your mobile phone number on your child’s arm so you can be contacted if your child becomes lost.

Sydney New Year’s Eve is a NO GLASS event. Glass bottles and containers are not permitted and bag checks are a condition of entry to all managed access sites. Use recycled or reusable containers instead.

Pack your own food in recyclable or reusable plastic containers. Non-alcoholic drinks, including water, must be in sealed plastic containers. Many sites will also have food and drinks for sale.

Use sunscreen and wear a hat as December daytime temperatures in Sydney are often above 30 degrees.

Bring clothing appropriate for cooler weather later in the evening.

Wear comfortable shoes – you will need to walk to and from vantage points and public transport terminals.

Bring your radio and tune in to 104.1 2Day FM for the 9PM Family Fireworks and Midnight Fireworks’ soundtracks.

Obey the road rules.

Be aware and considerate of others.

Don’t drink and ride. It is an offence to ride under the influence.

Wear a helmet and reflective clothing.
