Steve Aoki 30.03

Steve Aoki.. new album finishing up!

Steve Aoki is claiming his new album to be ’10 times better than Wonderland.’

His second album ‘Neon Future,’ has no set release date yet, but many details about what to expect have already dropped. Aoki states that he has improved on his writing skills, producing abilities and that the album is much more emotional for him. he also gives us an idea on what kind of music he is leaning his album toward, ‘It’s multi-genre: there are a couple of trap songs, some dubstep records. Mainly just four-to-the floor dance stuff.”

With already confirmed collab’s with stars like Rita Ora & Flux Pavillion, ‘Neon Future’ has some high expectation to live up too. I’m sure Steve will not disappoint!

UMF Live Stream

The producers of Ultra Music Festival have been thoughtful enough to consider that the majority of the worlds population don’t get to come to the most desired festival of the year, so they have offered us the ‘UMF live stream,’ as compensation for their quick to sell out tickets.

What Is Trap Music?

Trap music has really taken the world by storm lately. While the style has been around for quite a while now, major DJ’s have started to take note and its popularity has boosted immensely forming a more specific EDM Trap music genre.

Trap generally combines the genres hip hop,  crunk, house and dubstep. It can be identified by characteristics such as 808 bass samples, a “trappy” snare, vocals that are usually pitched lower and repetitive synthetic higher pitched sounds.

According to Urban Dictionary:

To simply break it down, Trap music would be best described as a combination of;

  • 1/3 hip hop (tempo and song structure are similar, most tracks are usually between 70 -110 bpm) – with vocals sometimes pitched down
  • 1/3 Dance Music  – High pitched Dutch synth work, Hardstyle sampling, as well as a plethora of trap remixed of popular EDM songs
  • 1/3 dub (Low frequency focus and strong emphasis on repetitiveness throughout a song)

Major trap artists include Waka Flocka Flame, Gucci Mane, Young Jeezy, Three 6 Mafia,  RL Grime, TNGHT, Flosstradamus, Baauer, DJ Sliink, Heroes x Villains, Luminox.

Check out this new mix by Flosstradamus and you should be able to distinguish what makes this music ‘trap’:
