Sia’s new quirky and cute music video ‘Chandelier’

Aussie’s favourite quirky pop star, Sia, has finally released her music video for her chart hit, Chandelier’ and it’s just as cute and quirky as you’d expect it to be!

Sia reunited with her ‘Breathe Me’ collaborator, Daniel Askill, to help produce her latest video, which was a very smart decision as this video doesn’t fall short of what Sia stands for as a music artist. To up the cuteness factor, 11 year old, Maddie Zeigler, from Dance Moms stars in the video, playing a younger (and more flexible) Sia with some very impressive dance moves! Chandelier is just one of many original tracks in Sia’s fifth album, 1000 forms of Fear.

Don’t worry, we won’t give too much away. Infact, we’ll even include the video below for you guys to see for yourselves. You’re welcome 😉

So what do you guys think? Is this Sia’s best music video? Let us know in the comments below!

Diplo has given fans a clue on what collab’s we should be expecting from her this time round, “I have a lot of production that’s about to come out. Everything from Tinie Tempah to Chris Brown to Sia.

Just incase you weren’t already excited for new Sia, here’s a preview on what she’s recently done for ‘The Great Gatsby. The film’s soundtrack will be available on May 7th.

Christina <3 Sia

Australian songstress Sia has been busy hard at work writing a hit new song for Christina Aguilera’s new Album Lotus, Sia has confirmed ‘Blank Page’ will be on Christina Aguilera’s forthcoming album ‘Lotus’ and she thinks it is ”amazing”.

Interview -Daily Telegraph

It is not the first time Christina has worked with Sia – she also wrote the track ‘You Lost Me’ on Christina’s ‘Bionic’ album.

Aguilera — who shares a birthday (December 18) with Furler — won over Sia with a fan email.

Furler’s 2005 song Breathe Me — used in Six Feet Under and countless other TV shows and ads — was just one of Aguilera’s favourite Sia songs.

‘‘Obviously she likes Breathe Me, that’s the one everyone goes for, but she mentioned seven songs as far back as the first Zero 7 album, and songs likeDestiny and Distractions, and a song called Moon from my last album that nobody ever picks as a favourite.

‘‘That won her some points, she’s a listener, she knows my random album tracks nobody gives a s— about. That’s pretty flattering.”

Though Furler was shocked the singer knew who she was, the feeling was mutual — Furler expressing her love of Aguilera’s ballad Beautiful.

And it was Sia’s way with ballads that Aguilera wanted for her own musical DNA.

‘‘That’s why I’m here, that’s my department, I’m from the ballads department,” Furler says.

‘‘We’ve written some really wonderful songs. I would put any of the songs we’ve written on one of my albums. And it’s a total collaboration. There are some artists who walk in and say ‘I want to write a song about a stiletto’, then walk out again.

‘‘You write the song and they take a third. That’s not at all what it’s been like working with Christina. Often she saves the day when we’re stuck.”

The collaboration (including Furler’s bassist Sam Dixon) has already yielded four tracks, with Aguilera wanting to write more.

‘‘There have been a few goosebumps-on-my-scalp moments I must say,” Furler says. ‘‘I definitely pooped my pants when she first sang out loud in the room with us. She’s dope. She can afford to take risks. She’s at a place in her career where she could do a line-dancing record and it’d sell a bazillion copies because it’s her singing. That what she touches turns to gold.”…

She’s also about to write lyrics for a ‘‘huge pop star” she declines to name but her hints — ‘‘one of her past lyrics is one of my favourite of all time, it’s about boobs and it’s hilarious” — suggest it may well be Shakira.

This new life as songwriter for hire is clearly taking off.

‘‘It’s all just started happening this year,” Furler says. ‘‘I don’t know who talked me up in the pop world but word has spread that I’m easygoing and fast at writing songs. I can clear my mind and lyrics just come out, it’s very easy for me. Christina said, ‘It’s so easy to write with you’ and that’s the ultimate compliment.”

Furler’s third album, Some People Have Real Problems, was released in January last year.

Hidden track Buttons became a radio hit; the album reached No.26 on the US chart.

The success was all the more impressive considering Furler has long shunned offers of a major record deal. She’ll finish album No.4 in April, then has to deal with ‘‘all the boring politics that come with making an album actually happen once it’s been recorded” to ensure a release by October.

This wonder duo /collaboration is set to make waves, and Sia truly is on the fame gravy train from here on in with her incredible talent.

DJ…DIME A DOZEN ? Or is the dime the problem?

In recent weeks well known musical acts have been receiving a most unceremonious boot of the DJ decks. The debate rages amongst the EDM heavy weights is it okay for musicians who have no previous DJ experience to call themselves DJ, and is there a problem of  sacrificing  quality DJing because venues are catering to the lowest denominator and only playing the top 40 hits.

The most-quoted reason for this rather unsavoury mishaps to well known artist such as Tommie Sunshine, Sia, Calvin Harris and Cassian,  ‘is the set wasn’t working for the bottle-service crowd‘. Sia an Adelaide Native now based in the U.S was forced to cut her live DJ set short after a disagreement with the club ‘The Bank’  owner.

“The general manager called Kanye West and Jay-Z, Big Sean and Snoop Dog ‘elevator music’, asked me to play something up-tempo so I played the ever crowd pleasing Toxic, by Britney Spears,” Sia told inthemix via Twitter. “Britney hasn’t had a f*cking hit record in 3 years! Current Top 40!” [the manager said], so I played Carly Rae Jepsen which wasn’t house enough for him. I am not a fan of doof doof music. It sounds like an alarm system to me. They had approved my playlist earlier so it was a shock to be told to play dance music of which I am not a fan. I don’t have or know anything about that kind of music, so he got more and more juicehead vein throbbingly irate to the extent of chest bumping my 122 pound manager, a quarter of the size of him. I felt scared and uncomfortable so we left.”

Another artist to suffer the same fate is Tommie Sunshine, who playing at the New York club Stalwart, who was kicked off to the decks, “A bit past halfway into my set I was informed that I was being taken off the decks while standing with Askay from MTV & my booking agent Cody from AM Only” Tommie recounted. “We all had a good laugh about it because everyone is now an expert of this music, especially the ones who pay BIG $ to consume it. Not to mention the clowns who supposedly ‘run’ clubs.”

“Basically their #1 priority is their ‘clients’ who spend money in bottle service & what they say dictates the music direction. The DJs who have to play to people who act this way don’t deserve this kind of abuse. Not only will I never play there again but they have a huge mountain to climb for pissing off AM Only who sent them both Skrillex & Wolfgang Gartner for shows there & now they pretty much spit in my & my agent’s faces.”

Although this behaviour is despicable, should people like Sia be able to call themselves a DJ and be booked into big jobs on their name alone with no credits as a DJ? On the flip side for people like Tommie Sunshine who are well respected DJs, this behaviour denotes to a rather more sinister problem in live venues- that money is the driving factor rather then quality of the music, and the main feature that dictates these venues is increasing revenue even to the detriment of its hired artist clientèle. Perhaps clubs are actually shooting themselves in the foot as these big stars are the ones in long run that could actually be the money makers for clubs with their fame and popularity.
