and the winner of eurovision 2014 is …..

Austrian performer Conchita Wurst, who has come to be known as the ‘bearded lady’, declared the winner. She has attracted widespread praise and predictably homophobic criticism following her win. Wurst’s message at the press conference following her win: “This project is based on tolerance, acceptance and love.” She dedicated the award to “everyone who believes in a future of peace and freedom.

Australia’s Jessica Mauboy performed during a break in the competition in front of an estimated audience of over 20 million fans. Mauboy took to the stage to perform her new song ‘Sea of Flags’ which was co-written by Ilan Kidron (of The Potbelleez) and expat Stuart Crichton (who has written songs for Kylie, Delta, and Sugababes).

Tonight Alive makes the Amazing Spider-Man 2 soundtrack

Sydney pop punk exports Tonight Alive have unveiled their video for The Edge, a track written exclusively for the soundtrack of The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise Of Electro.

The song will be featured on the soundtrack in Australia, New Zealand, the U.K. and Ireland. As well as their track, also seen the release of an Alicia Keys-Kendrick Lamar collaboration that also has input from Pharrell Williams and Hans Zimmer (who provides the blockbuster movie’s score).

The track is already available for pre-order and the video has just been released earlier this week. Check it out below!
