Ellie Goulding Sideshow in March

Ellie01

One of the live recruits for this year’s Future Music Festival tour, UK singer-songwriter (and former Skrillex muse) Ellie Goulding has found time for a show on the side. Following the rapid sell-out of her promo shows here last year, don’t expect tickets to last long for this single show at the Metro Theatre. Tickets on sale Monday 25 February through Ticketek.

Having made her name with debut album Lights, Goulding recently released her sophomore album, Halcyon, preceded by early single Hanging On, a collaboration with Tinie Tempah. Her promo tour in November 2012 was to spread the word on the album’s single Anything Could Happen. “Hood up, like Darth Vader in a boxing ring, she punches her way through the best tracks from new album ‘Halcyon’,” NME wrote of a recent Goulding show. “‘Anything Can Happen’ is the natural successor to her 2010 single ‘Starry Eyed’, while ‘Only You’ is a stuttering, jittering stomp.”

Friday 8 March – The Metro Theatre, Sydney

XXYYXX Australian Tour in Early 2013?!

XXYYXX01

Teenage Orlando-based electronic star XXYYXX will visit Australia’s capital cities to pump out his “quite simply mindblowing” music in some sweaty shows in late March.

XXYYXX – aka 17-year-old Marcel Everett – dropped his self-titled debut album last year to rave reviews, having his music featured in XLR8R, The Needle Drop, Earmilk, Indie Shuffle andBIRP, just to name a few. He’s also done remixes for artists such as Tinashe and Usher.

XXYYXX’s music has been described as “prolific output of eclectic, vivid electronica conjures a broad spectrum of emotions and visions; desolate landscapes, moments of intimate warmth, serene sadness and transcendent beauty”. It’s also been likened to James Blake and The Weeknd.

Everett himself has labelled his style of electronic music as experimental bass, and is believed to be working with local producer Ta-ku on some new beats.

Tickets for XXYYXX are now on sale now.
