Avicii’s album party launch last night at New Yorks Swanky Hotel only played seven of the artisits hotly anticipated ‘True’ album – many of which had already been heard thanks to the artists Promo Mix which was released last month. If its first track (Wake me Up) was any indication of the albums success, hitting #1 45 minutes after its release – the EDM industry should be very excited.
This invite-only event packed the third floor of this New York city bar, with crowds of music lovers, record labels and good lookers. The Swedish DJ began his seven track selection with his collaboration with Salen Al Fakir playing the song “All My Life (Someone Like You)” which pleased the enormous, devoted crowd. He followed with his usual uplifting melodies including “Hey Brother Hey Sister” and “Addicted to You” with vocals from singer Audra Mae which is a show stopper to say the least.
Denmark’s Franskild are a collaboration of wonders shown again in their new track ‘eden’. This electro duo are self describing re-creations of the blissful sounds and magnificence of the early eighties house music, 90’s french touch, mid-00’s jackin house and contemporary garage. The sound is a melancholic, melodic, dreamy outlook on house music.
Members: love ojensa & tim söderström, hope to appear on DJ Central within the next few episodes to promote their tracks ‘shards’ and ‘majestic mountain’ and their newest ‘eden’ all of which is on their debut ep ‘majestic mountain’
‘Eden’ is released on August 2nd so keep your ears peeled for more tracks from this talented duo as thier combination of deep house and electro send tingles to the soul.
Canadian DJ A- Trak is the latest phenomenal everyone is obsessed with. He’s remixed the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Martin Solveig, the Justice and more and now the Fools Good Records boss is back with a new remix “Trying To Be Cool”, a track off Phoenix’s recently released album ‘Bankrupt’.
A-Trak told Rolling Stone “I’ve been a fan of Phoenix since their first album, so I was really excited to take this one on,” A-Trak says of the mix. “I also love remixing a song that has a memorable vocal. I try to make a new song out of it, but theirs was already great. Hopefully people enjoy mine too.”
Its an all London affair with Disclosure flexing some serious remix muscles on Jack Dixon’s ‘Coconuts’. Disclosure’s take on the song is full of unique fusion of glitchy vocals and beats with some quasi-fusion 80s bass with heavy melodies.
