At he 56th annual Grammy awards, Daft Punk managed to secure 5 Grammy awards including album of the year with their fourth studio album “Random Access Memories.” It was a year with fierce competition with artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Lorde but the French electronic duo prevailed.
“Random Access Memories” was another great album from the duo that won them a long list of awards including; album and record of the year, best pop/group performance, best dance/electronica album and best engineered album. On the night they appeared typically disguised in their masks and performed an interesting version of “Get Lucky” which featured Pharrell Williams and Stevie Wonder.
It seems that old dogs can be up to new tricks as the frontman of the American Disco and RnB band ‘Chic’ – Nile Rodgers – teams up with old favourite daft punk to release a new album even though there hasn’t been one in the previous 20 years.
Get lucky was the first hit which Rodger believes has been so successful because of it’s unique sound and ‘it works because it’s weird.’ Interestingly enough, nothing else on the charts is like the funky disco colab feat. Pharrel Williams which reasons why it peaked at #10 on the charts so far, with more than 350,000 downloads to date, plus another 710,000 in England. It is also the fastest-selling album in the UK so far this year.
Rodgers worked on Punks album Random Acess Memories describing Give Life Back To Music and Lose Yourself to Dance as an ‘exclusive’ sound. Its been revealed another daft and Rodgers colab is in the works including more unfinished Chic songs he wants to be released “Daft Punk wants to do at least one of them with me, so that should be very cool,” he said. “Because they respect the music. They understand.”
Here’s hoping that this is the collab couple of the year in the making, bringing more funk and no junk.
It seems like everyone is singing their own cover of Daft Punk’s latest hit, “Get Lucky” and now the US President has followed suit.
Ok, not really. Some clever YouTuber has dubbed several Obama clips to the tune of the song–you gotta give the person credit for the effort though! The YouTuber named “baracksdubs” has also created other clever Obama covers of hit songs, particularly Carly Rae Jepson’s hit “Call Me Maybe” which has reached millions of hits on YouTube.
Liam Gallagher has made controversy within the in music industry against ‘Daft Punk’ recent number one hit single ‘ Get Lucky’.
The former oasis frontman claims he could haven written ‘Get Lucky in a “f*#king hour” he ranted. He than continued on ranting, “ I don’t know what the fuss is about, you know what I mean? It’s like F#*king off, give me a f#*king break”
