Kraftwerk in Rock Hall of Fame!

If you consider Daft Punk to be the father of the American EDM boom, then it’s time to vote for Grandpa. German electronic music visionaries Kraftwerk have been nominated for entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the first electronic act to be up for such honors.

In addition to recording ten groundbreaking studio albums, Kraftwerk quite literally helped invent many of the innovations that the music we love takes for granted today. From the vocoder to the drum pad and beyond, Kraftwerk were analog pioneers that were light years ahead of their 1970s contemporaries. Cited as influences by multiple generations and genres of artists, ranging from the French robots to Depeche Mode, Björk, and every single techno DJ, with unimpeachable longevity (they played Ultra Music Festival and swiftly sold out eight nights at New York’s Museum of Modern Art earlier this year), it is no exaggeration to say electronic music would not be the same without them.

You can (and should) vote to support Kraftwerk’s nomination for entry here.
