Double J is coming!

Triple J announced the rebranding of new digital station Dig Music to Double J on 9th April 2014, which you probably haven’t heard of – unless you were born well before 1980. Aside from being the precursor to our national youth broadcaster, Double J was a fearless, innovative and forward-thinking station that changed the face of radio in this country forever.

Double J was the first Australian pop station to employ a female DJ. Gayle Austin (pictured below, second from left) was coordinator of the talkback callers for John Laws at 2UW, before she heard about a role going at Double J. She was the only female to apply for an on-air position.

Double J will be available via the ABC Radio App, online at www.doublej.net.au, or on digital radio/TV from April 30. Double J will play you new music and also celebrate the iconic music you grew up with, bringing with it unprecedented access to almost 40 years of triple j interview and sound archives.
The first presenter on the new Dig Music station is former Triple J presenter and Spicks and Specks panellist Myf Warhurst, who moved to Triple M in 2008 for 18 months. She has returned from London for the role. Myf Warhurst will launch the station with a new program 11 – 3pm weekdays. Myf Warhurst will helm a reborn Double J with a blend of old and new.
