Avicii Debuts New Album #True

Avicii’s album party launch last night at New Yorks Swanky Hotel only played seven of the artisits hotly anticipated ‘True’ album – many of which had already been heard thanks to the artists Promo Mix which was released last month. If its first track (Wake me Up) was any indication of the albums success, hitting #1 45 minutes after its release –  the EDM industry should be very excited.

This invite-only event packed the third floor of this New York city bar, with crowds of music lovers, record labels and good lookers. The Swedish DJ began his seven track selection with his collaboration with Salen Al Fakir playing the song “All My Life (Someone Like You)” which pleased the enormous, devoted crowd. He followed with his usual uplifting melodies including “Hey Brother Hey Sister” and “Addicted to You” with vocals from singer Audra Mae which is a show stopper to say the least.

True will be released on September 17.

Kaskades Sonic Atmosphere

Kaskade is releasing his new LP “Atmosphere” in early September, commenting that his fans should expect the unexpected. This album could reflect his re-introduction back into house music through his residency at Marquee Las Vegas.

His album is a combination of the EDM-era style and Kaskade’s obvious love for house music possibly making this album is most genuine out of all his albums, somehow combining his older sound with his new. The synth teamed up with euphoric vocals make each note in the album electrifying.

The first track, a collaboration with Project 46 “Last Chance” has been played by Kaskade at multiple festivals including Marquee’s ‘Summer Lovin’, its eclectic combination of house and dance takes you on an undescribable musical venture.

Avicii’s Album – Guest-List

Avicii, it seems, doesn’t do things by halves. Last year, the superstar Swede’s focus was touring – and it saw him tear through a superhuman 320 shows in 12 months. For the first half of 2013, however, Tim Bergling’s scaling the shows right back and turning his attention to his debut album. But he’s not tackling the record alone. Speaking to Rolling Stone, the Future Music Festival-headliner revealed that he’s working with one Nile Rodgers on the big LP.

Avicii’s about to kick off a four-day studio session with Rodgers, who famously revealed last year that he’s been lending Daft Punk a hand with their forthcoming album. But it’s not just the Chic-frontman Bergling’s recruited for the album – other very non-EDM collaborators include Elvis Presley hit writer Mac Davis, Mike Einzinger of 90s FM radio favourites Incubus and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda. “Everything is single-oriented now, but that’s why the only reason to make an album is if…every track is like a single,” he said of the decision to bring the unusual set of collaborators on board. “No one’s doing this approach to the electronic music, so it’s exciting to me that EDM is at a place where it’s even possible to do it like this.”

So how’s that roll-call of collaborators going to change the Avicii sound? “I have access to those people now, so it’s going to be a lot of acoustic elements, but kind of twisted a little bit. It’s way more songs than I’ve done before and it’s everything from folk records to more soulful [stuff],” Bergling continued. “Me and my manager have been through this so many times, we want eight to ten songs on the album, no more, and we want every single one of them to be a classic. I’m not being cocky enough to say that’s what I’m going to accomplish, but that’s the goal.” It may be a lofty ambition, but having Nile Rodgers on board certainly won’t hurt Avicii’s chances.

Armin van Buuren reveals ‘A State Of Trance 2013’

In between all the planning for the ASOT 600 world tour, Armin van Buuren has somehow found time to put together his annual mix compilation, A State of Trance. The double-disc effort – which moves from ‘The Beach’ to ‘The Club’ – features a host of the DJ’s favourite producers, among them Arty,Aly & FilaAlex M.O.R.P.H. and Super8 & Tab. He’s also unveiled a new collaboration with W&WD# Fat, slotting it alongside his team-up with Markus SchulzThe ExpeditionA State Of Trance 2013 is out 14 February.

2013 is also set to bring a new Armin van Buuren album, following 2010’s Mirage. Last year, Armin told DJ Mag the LP was 70-percent done, with a projected release date of May 2013. “I’m really curious how my fans are going to react because it’s very different,” he told DJ Mag. “There are a few more safe tracks, and I’ve been road-testing a few of the more trance-y tracks off the new album, but making an artist album always allows you to experiment a little bit more.”

Armin’s upcoming expedition is swinging close to Australia, with ASOT 600 taking over the first night of Future Music Festival in Kuala Lumpur. Armin and co. will headline Friday 15 March, while The ProdigyFeed MeBloc PartyKill The Noise and more lead the next night. From there, the trance don continues to New York’s Madison Square Garden for a sold-out show.

It culminates in the Netherlands on 6 April with an all-star line-up at the Brabanthallen. In the main room, it’s Armin alongside Cosmic Gate, Dash Berlin, Andrew Rayel, Shogun and more. One of the other stages is coined ‘Who’s Afraid Of 138?’, with an emphasis on the “harder, faster” side of trance. Check out the tracklist for the compilation below.
