Usually you would think that an enormous electronic music festival would not hear the likes of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell’s Ain’t No Mountain High Enough, so it was groundbreaking news when French duo Justice went against the natural flow of a headlining set and featured this particular song as the closing number at Toronto’s Digital Dreams festival last week.
An event to help celebrate the country’s 147th birthday and one that showcases hit makers like Tiesto, Deep Dish and Dash Berlin, one would think Justice, a duo right amongst these top dogs would not expect the crowd to boogie along down to a 1960s track. However the controversy has also come with compliments. Though they are known for their own hit Civilization which is always pleasing to hear, Justice have also been acknowledged for their ‘boldness to express the originality to do something different’.
