Hot on the heels of the news that Dirty South is coming home to bring in the New Year at Marquee Sydney, the club has announced more big-name acts. This time, it’s all happening around Stereosonic, with four of the festival’s headliners given a night each. Kicking things off is dance hitmaker Calvin Harris, who’ll be filling the main room on Friday 23 November, the night before he hits the Stereo mainstage. The DJ-producer has been keeping busy in recent months, and new album “18 Months” comes with guest appearances from Example, Kelis, Dillon Francis and Florence Welch.
After Stereosonic has wound up, fast-rising U.S. star Porter Robinson will be making his way to Marquee for an official afterparty. You can expect a livewire set from him. As he told inthemix, “I think a year ago I would’ve played the tracks that guaranteed me the best response possible. But I think now it’s more important to present something that’s unusual than perfect. I think it’s easy to provide a fairly-perfect DJ set, you know?”
From there, it’s the turn of Dutch big-room pro Sander van Doorn to headline a mid-week session on Wednesday 28 November. The Dutchman told Vibe at ADE that his recent career has been a whirlwind. “I just did a collaboration together with Mark Knight, and another with a dance group I can’t say too much about yet. My schedule is absolutely ridiculous right now.” Capping it all off is another Dutch big name, Chuckie, who has plenty of experience playing rooms like Marquee. That’s quite a run.
