Alice Glass, one half of the experimental electronic duo Crystal Castles, has announced on social media that she has left the band, whom she formed with producer Ethan Kath back in 2004.
In a series of Twitter and Facebook posts, the Toronto based artist has announced that she would be leaving for “a multitude of reasons both professional and personal“, and indicating that a solo career would be the next logical step.
Glass writes: “I am leaving Crystal Castles. My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honest, and empathy for others. for a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within CC. Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles.”
This year marks the 10th anniversary since the inception of Crystal Castles, during which they became known for their chaotic live shows and their three albums, I (2008), II (2010), and III (2012).
